Brooo I wouldn't even worry about the melody. It wasn't what stuck out for me anyway. What I was into were those dramatic shifts when the horns or drums would kick in. Drives the song pretty nicely. Excellent vocals for sure.

Much appreciated. I really do try to emulate the vibe and sound of each new genre I try. I do enjoy adding and influencing but I have to know what I'm doing first. It sounded like a good blend so I went with it. Growing up with a musician for a father, I learned what sounds good whether I liked it or now.

I thank you. I'm a tinkerer. Its what I do. Tinkering with details allow me to bend the rules of music theory just before they break. Experimentation is key. Having unstable emotions and an obsession with creativity doesn't hurt either.
